The Consortium for Central Catalonia development operates in the regions of Segarra, Solsonès, Bages and Anoia. This territory extends along a central plateau progressing into the Prepirineum, until its division by the Segre and Llobregat rivers basins.
It is a diverse territory, with marked rurality and heterogeneous economic and social dynamics. The variability of the geography transforms into a great diversity of landscapes, which in the lower areas are set in rained plains in agroforestry mosaic, and which in the high areas are characterized by mountain forestland. The orography of the terrain divides the dispersion into small population centers in demographic regression and farmhouses that, together with the castles, make up a rich cultural heritage and symbol of identity of these regions.
As for the productive sectors, there is relative stability with diversified economic activities, but currently marked by stagnation as a result of the economic crisis.
