The Leader Consortium of Development of Rural Land operates in the counties of Alt Camp, Conca de Barberà, Priorat and Baix Camp. It also includes three municipalities in the Baix Penedès county and four in the Tarragonès.
Its landscape is characterized by the great diversity that shapes the contrast between the plain areas and the mountains that surround them. There is a large forest area, although the territory is mainly agricultural.
Cultivation of cereal, vine and olive trees prevail. Natural and cultural heritage also have special relevance. There are areas declared as spaces of natural interest. In terms of cultural heritage, mention should be made of the Priorat’s request for a cultural landscape, with the candidacy “Priorat-Montsant-Siurana, Mediterranean mountain agricultural landscape” on UNESCO’s World Heritage list.
This territory has an important road network that guarantees communication with the rest of Catalonia, the State and Europe. In addition, the presence of the high-speed train and the airport of Reus are attractive from an economic stand point since they encourage investments, especially within the field of production.
