The project
Within the framework of the Rural Development Program of Catalonia 2014-2020, our rural territory is organized into 11 Local Action Groups (GAL) that cooperate to carry out projects for the social and economic revitalization of this territory.
Among them, there is the Odisseu project to promote the return of young talent to the rural world and one of its actions is this tool that we present to you.
Viure a Rural aims to facilitate access to the resources and services that we can find in the rural Leader municipalities of Catalonia. From the same website, basic, useful and updated information is provided on the resources of these very diverse territories that have rural identities in common.
We know of European experiences that have ensured that these territories have a reference or reception space that makes them more accessible, especially for people who are not originally from them.
With the desire to bring these territories and their resources and services closer to and more visible, we have created this tool for everyone who needs it: young people who want to settle or return, families who start their project in a rural environment, companies and entities that want to launch new projects…
On this platform you can find all those resources that have to do with people’s daily lives, at an individual and collective level, such as: housing, work and entrepreneurship, health, sports, education, leisure, culture and the environment.
The information content, number of resources and territorial scope will be expanded periodically.
collaboration agreement with the Provincial Council of Lleida
The Lleida Provincial Council has made a significant effort in recent years by designing and implementing different public policies to face the demographic challenge.
In this context, the need arises to have a web space where the different actions carried out by the different levels of administration are made known, which becomes a reference portal both for territories with difficulties due to population loss and for the population that is considering the possibility of moving their habitual residence to rural areas.
This action is part of the subsidy for the financing of innovative projects for territorial transformation and the fight against depopulation (Order TED/1358/2021, of December 1, establishes the regulatory bases) granted on December 13, 2022 by the General Secretariat for Demographic Challenges of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenges. More specifically, in the “Project to support public policies designed by the Provincial Council of Lleida within the framework of actions to address the demographic challenge in the province of Lleida”.
Given the shared objectives regarding the creation of a reference website in the field of repopulation, the Lleida Provincial Council and the Alt Urgell-Cerdanya GAL Consortium (CAUC) intend to establish collaboration mechanisms for the redesign, management and coordination of the Viurearural.cat website, constituting itself as a virtual platform of resources and services for rural repopulation in Catalonia.
The objective is to provide basic, useful and updated information on the resources of these territories that have to do with people’s daily lives, at an individual and collective level, such as: housing, work and entrepreneurship, health, sports, education, leisure, culture and the environment, from a single website. In addition to Viure a Rural, the Odisseu project has allowed the development of other actions aimed at young people and rural businesses.
Internship grants
Support to encourage young university students to stay in paid internships during their studies in rural companies, in order to promote business competitiveness, as well as the return and establishment of this group in rural areas.
Retorna (Return)
Virtual space to facilitate contact between young professionals and companies in Leader territories to promote economic growth and job insertion. Retorna is aimed at young people with university degrees or higher education who are looking for work in rural regions and in companies located in these regions.
Companies can consult the professional LinkedIn profiles of young people looking for work in that region.
